Measuring Success Through Reader Response

The ongoing success of your custom publishing project is an important goal for us at DCP. Measuring your audience's reaction to your publication is one of the most important ways to gauge success.

Because of the importance of measurement, DCP has partnered with a leading independent research firm, Readex, and the national trade association of custom publishers, the CPC, to develop a reader research project that is available to you at a reduced cost.

The Readex Readership and Effectiveness Study for Custom Publications consists of a set of research surveys (one for business to consumer publications and one for business to business publications) that will provide you with data about the perceptions that your customers, prospects, and members have of your publication.

This turnkey program includes everything from preparation and mailing of the survey, to data capture and the production of data tables. The two-page questionnaire will be mailed to approximately 750 readers selected randomly from the database of recipients and will address these topics:

  • Publication receipt, time spent reading, and issue pass-along
  • Actions taken as a result of reading the publication
  • Publication ratings in areas such as informative, relevant, credible, useful, etc.
  • Agree/disagree ratings for statements such as whether the publication provides unique information, gives a favorable impression, creates awareness, increases likelihood of purchase/usage, etc.

From the time you sign up for the program, there is about a three month process involved in conducting the research. At the end, you will receive a Publication Report that includes:

  • A brief description of the survey's purpose and method
  • Data tables
  • Details of the methodology
  • A copy of the survey questionnaire
  • Explanations of statistical terms
